Motion Graphics Explainer
The goal of this motion graphics project was to deliver information to viewers through visual movement accompanied with audio. My professor assigned us a script & audio, where we had to then figure out the best approach to explaining the relevant information through visual motion graphics.
Advanced proficiency in adobe after effects.
Explained information to viewers through visual motion graphics.
Created design boards and motion tests in the pre-production process to develop my aesthetic, as well as reference key moments I wanted to highlight.
Developed my own “hand-drawn” aesthetic approach to displaying the visual information.
Created all assets in adobe illustrator by hand drawing all shapes and icons, later importing & animating them in adobe after effects.
Utilized adobe after effects tools such as trim paths, wiggle paths, opacity, rotation, and scale.
Animated assets with position key frames to emphasize visual motion during the time based composition.
Highlighted importance of timing, syncing up both visual motion and audio to best ability.
Used time management skills to adhere to deadlines.
Communicated with professor and teammates for inspiration and guidance.
Pre-production
Design Board
Created a design board to develop my own specific style and aesthetic as well as highlight key moments that I wanted to promote during the composition. Creating a design board during pre-production helped me thoroughly discover my own artistic approach to displaying the cognitive information, which made it easier to achieve during production. The design board for this project also offered room for discussion with classmates and my professor which guided me in the right direction for development due to feedback and criticism.
Motion Test
Producing a motion test allowed me to test my ideas to know if my approach could work aesthetically and informatively. Creating this motion test also allowed me a scope of what I needed to do (creating assets in illustrator, importing, & animating) to accomplish the deadline on time.
