Motion Graphics Kinetic Type
To become more proficient with motion graphics and adobe after effects, in my motion graphics studio course we explored the combination of both typography and time-based movement to communicate a specific scene from a movie or TV show.
Became more proficient in adobe after effects, adobe illustrator, and motion graphics as a whole.
Communicated a momentous scene from the TV show Outerbanks to viewers through a combination of movement and typography.
Learned the importance of timing to assist time-based movement.
Explored different fonts, typography, textures, and color to dictate a theme surrounding the TV show.
Adjusted key frames while implementing rotation, scale, opacity, parenting etc. to deliver key moments to viewers.
Produced assets in adobe illustrator, later importing them into after effects for animation.
Communicated with professor and classmates for guidance, ideas, and criticism.
Process
Design Boards
Created design boards which helped my design process significantly as I was able to explore not only typography and color, but the best way to deliver the audio components in the time-based composition.
Created Assets
Before starting the animation process in adobe after effects, I first produced most of my assets in adobe illustrator so that I could later import them into after effects to start the animating process. Although I produced some of the assets in adobe after effects, most of my assets were created in illustrator as a method for simplicity and room for exploration with textures, colors, and typography.
Motion Testing
Before committing to my design proposal, I created a motion test which offered me a chance to explore with key frames and fonts, while giving me reassurance that I would be able to accomplish my scope within the deadline.
