Advertising Campaign for Buzz Burger

For my capstone project I developed an ad campaign for a made up brand called “Buzz Burger” which consisted of two commercials produced by me. The goal of this campaign was to increase awareness about the brand by promoting Buzz Burger’s specialty food & drink items.

  • Increased overall skillset with video production, audio production, copywriting, advertising, and postproduction process.

  • Incorporated advertising skills to write creative brief.

  • Applied electronic media copywriting skills to produce TV ad.

  • Increased audio production skills by recording audio of radio ad.

  • Advanced video production skills through filming the commercials using a Canon Rebel T6i camera.

  • Used creativity to achieve desired brand image in commercials.

  • Became more familiar with handling equipment (tripods, dolly track, lighting kits, cameras, audio mixer in studio, microphones).

  • Expanded preproduction & postproduction expertise using Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, and Final Cut pro to edit compositions.

Pre-production Process

 

Creative Brief - Version 1

Produced at the very beginning of preproduction process to establish overview of brands image.

Creative brief - Version 2

Refined the creative brief as more specified and professional, probing deeper into the brands objective for the ad campaign.

 

Copywriting - TV Ad

Utilized electronic media copywriting skills to produce the TV ad for the commercial. Writing this aided in planning not only the audio side of the commercial, but planning what specific shots I wanted to capture during the duration of the commercial.

Created Logo

Produced logo in adobe illustrator to further advance the brands image.

Produced Audio for Burger Commercial

Recorded audio in studio utilizing mixing board to produce professional high quality audio of the TV ad.

Post-production

 

Adobe After Effects:

  • Applied effects such as color correction (curves), to darken background and blur out any imperfections.

  • Utilized masking tools and shape layers to place text behind the drink.

  • Key framed the text as trim paths in order to achieve motion within composition.

  • Used different fonts to adhere to brand image.

  • Added position key frames to the text throughout the composition so the text would appear at desired time.

  • Key framed opacity and scale to add complexity.

Final Cut Pro:

  • Increased skillset in editing video compositions.

  • Applied smooth transitions between shots.

  • Cut any unnecessary footage.

  • Combined numerous shots filmed to create a smooth paced video for both commercials.

Adobe Audition:

  • Increased skillset with audio editing.

  • Manipulated EQ and compression settings to enhance quality of voice.

  • Implemented SFX to establish environment and feel of ad.

  • Faded music in and out.
